The Langley Thunder hosted the 2016 BC Intermediate Lacrosse Championships July 29th to August 1st at the Langley Events Centre. Congratulations to Ken Buchan and his organization for putting on a great event!
It was a Lower Mainland medal sweep, as the host Langley Thunder and Coquitlam Adanacs took home top honours in the A and B Divisions, respectively.
In the A Division, the second seed Thunder went undefeated in the round-robin and bested top seed Coquitlam 16-8 in the final to win the Gold Medal, with the Adanacs settling for the Silver Medal. The Bronze Medal game, played earlier in the day, had the third seed Maple Ridge Burrards prevail 11-5 over the fourth seed Victoria Shamrocks.
The Gold Medal match in the B Division saw the Adanacs also go undefeated through the tournament, eventually beating the Delta Islanders 11-4, who came away with the Silver Medal. Earlier in the day, the Ridge Meadows Burrards edged the Saanich Tigers 6-4 to claim the Bronze Medal.
